ATTENTION please: I am sorry, this episode needs good acoustic conditions while listening. Unfortunately there was an audio problem while recording, but the episode with Heidi is still nice and worth it to listen with care – because she is a wonderful person.
Hello everyone, I announce my first international podcast episode. Thanks to my wonderful international interview guest this episode will be in English. I am very happy to introduce you to Heidi Karjalainen. She was in the Finish national swimming team, taking over 20 podium placements at the Finnish nationals. Internationally she was twice placed as 5th at FINA Swimming World Cup (both in Singapore 2010, 50m and 100m butterfly).
I had the chance to get to know Heidi last October at the ASICS FrontRunner Trainingscamp in Mallorca. We had a great swimming session – only the two of us in the ocean. And a few days later we had a great talk about Heidis swimming career. I had the pleasure to coach her by accident during a photoshoot with the two of us. We talked about performance pressure and fears as athlete on a high level.
Heidi finished her swimming career in 2013. Now she is lawyer at an outdoors performance brand Haglöfs in Sweden, captain of the Finnish ASICS FrontRunner team and an age group triathlete. Since we met in Mallorca we are still in contact – videos calls helped us through times of corona to keep up our inspiring talks.
And the last weeks I had the idea to take you, my dear podcast listeners, with me in those talks with inspiring people.
